The committee recommended that Trust Council receive the Species at Risk – State of the Islands report and endorse its use, along with a model natural environment Development Permit Area, as technical inputs for planning work.[1] The recommendation also calls for staff to prepare a communications policy explaining the Land Information Screening Tool’s methodology and rationale, and to add a technical summary of the tool to the Housing Options Toolkit.[1]

The committee’s motion passed on July 24, according to the adopted minutes.[1] The minutes say the committee was forwarding a staff Request for Decision and amended attachments to Trust Council.[1]

Discussion included concerns about public trust in the Land Information Screening Tool, including transparency in its development, how data layers are weighted and how the tool’s data will be maintained and funded.[1]

The committee also asked staff to draft a business case with options for retaining ongoing biological services; that motion carried.[1]
