Denman trustees set January 2 bylaw reading after lot-size amendments

The Local Trust Committee amends proposed Land Use Bylaw No. 186, waives a public hearing and schedules consideration of third reading.

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee schedules consideration of third reading for proposed Bylaw No. 186 on Friday, January 2, 2009, after amending the bylaw’s site-specific minimum lot-size provisions and Schedule B. ^[1]

The committee also waives a public hearing and incorporates proposed Bylaw No. 180, cited as “Denman Island Land Use Bylaw, 2002, Amendment No.1, 2007”, into proposed Bylaw No. 186. ^[1]

The amendments include minimum lot areas of 20 ha and 13.0 ha for subdivision, subject to the regulations in Section 2.8. ^[1]

Trustees and staff discussed errors in proposed Bylaw No. 182 concerning minimum lot sizes for a proposed Co-housing subdivision application. Staff said they will discuss the status of proposed Bylaw No. 185 with Ministry staff and advise the committee if approval may be delayed. ^[1]

The special meeting was held on December 9 at the Islands Trust office in Victoria. David Graham chaired, Louise Bell was a local trustee, and Chris Jackson was acting regional planning manager and recorder. ^[1]
