The Denman Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to explore variations to the definition of affordable housing for a proposed community land trust project, while work continues on a draft housing agreement and amendments to Bylaw No. 204.[1]
At its October 2 meeting, the committee heard that a legal review of the draft agreement was strongly recommended and that the applicant’s request for help with the review cost remained unresolved.[1]
The minutes record consensus that the agreement needed legal review and say the Islands Trust Executive Committee had been asked to explore additional funding options; a decision on possible sponsorship was deferred pending its recommendation.[1]
The committee also discussed moving the housing agreement bylaw and land-use bylaw amendment through the process together, and asked staff to explore alternative definitions of affordable housing for this and other applications.[1]
