Denman trustees direct review of vehicle access at six beach roads

The Marine Advisory Planning Commission is asked to discuss limiting vehicle access with the Denman Island Residents Association and report back.

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee directs its Marine Advisory Planning Commission to request a meeting with the Denman Island Residents Association’s Parks and Trails Committee about limiting vehicle beach access at Mallard Road, Hinton Road and Denman Road West, each north and south, and to report back. ^[1]

The minutes say there are 14 beach accesses around Denman Island, with three considered problematic because they allow uncontrolled vehicle access to beach areas. ^[1]

The committee discusses whether restricting vehicle access could interfere with accepted aquaculture activities on provincial Crown land and create liability issues. ^[1]

The committee also notes that the Denman Island Residents Association has access to funds through the Comox Valley Regional District, making it an appropriate body through which to continue the issue. ^[1]
