A public hearing is planned if the Denman Island Local Trust Committee advances proposed Bylaw Nos. 219 and 220, which would rezone land to facilitate a donation to the Valens Brook Nature Reserve and transfer two density units. One unit would go to the Density Bank for affordable housing and one to the receiving property. [1]
The proposal has four densities under the current configuration. If the bylaws are adopted, the receiving property’s site-specific R2(6) zone would be limited to a maximum of three densities, with no net increase in overall density under the Official Community Plan density cap. [1]
The proposed donation would add 2.54 hectares of protection to the Valens Brook Nature Reserve. The donated land would be zoned “Conservation” and could not be used for housing. [1]
The Denman Island Local Trust Committee would hold a registered restrictive covenant intended to increase environmental protection on the receiving property. [1]
The special meeting was held May 16 at Denman Seniors Hall as a Community Information Meeting, giving the public an opportunity to ask questions about the proposed bylaws. Acting Chair Laura Busheikin adjourned the meeting at 8:12 pm. [1]

He indicated that those densities will be moved by transferring one to the Density Bank for affordable housing and one to the receiving property. He indicated that if the bylaws are advanced, a Public Hearing would be held to provide an opportunity for public comment.
