The Denman Island Local Trust Committee gives first reading to proposed Bylaw No. 225, which adds a general prohibition against vehicles and ground-based machinery in the W1, W3 and W4 zones, and refers it to agencies and First Nations for comment.[1]
The proposed bylaw also contains an information note referencing federal authority over licensed aquaculture practices.[1]
The committee confirms that the bylaw is not contrary to or at variance with the Islands Trust Policy Statement before giving it first reading.[1]
The referral list includes the BC Shellfish Growers Association, Association of Denman Island Marine Stewards, Pacific Salmon Foundation, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Islands Trust Fund, Comox Valley Regional District, Islands Trust Bylaw Enforcement, and First Nations.[1]
A trustee says the bylaw presents an opportunity for public discussion and information about foreshore protection.[1]
