Denman trustees advance affordable-housing fee amendment

The Local Trust Committee gives three readings to a bylaw amendment reducing fees for affordable-housing applications and sends it for Executive Committee approval.

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee gives first, second and third readings to a proposed amendment reducing the fee for an affordable-housing application, then forwards it to the Secretary of the Islands Trust for approval by the Executive Committee. ^[1]

The committee also asks staff to bring back a brief written or verbal report on feedback about Official Community Plan amendments dealing with First Nations issues. ^[1]

Trustees request that staff organize a presentation by representatives of the K’omoks First Nation on traditional knowledge and stewardship practices. ^[1]

The committee supports an application for a statutory right-of-way for recreational trail use within the Agricultural Land Reserve on northern Denman Island and asks staff to convey that support to the Agricultural Land Commission. ^[1]

Trustees ask staff to draft a letter responding to Fisheries and Oceans Canada about beach clean-up, including the committee’s concern that driving on the beach be minimized. ^[1]
