A representative of the Denman Community Land Trust Association asked the Denman Island Local Trust Committee on October 3 to consider an “affordable housing first” policy for applications and to ask staff to process multiple functions in parallel. The minutes say she cited time lags and delays and said low-income seniors needed affordable housing. ^[1]

Trustees and staff discussed the request. The minutes record that a report on prioritizing affordable-housing rezoning applications was already on the follow-up list, and that a standing resolution might be considered at the next committee meeting. ^[1]

The committee also discussed adding an item to its follow-up list and asking staff to check whether Trust Council’s Local Planning Committee was considering the issue for trust-wide consideration. The minutes do not record a decision adopting the requested policy. ^[1]
