A member of the public argued at the February 6 Denman Island Local Trust Committee meeting against exempting shellfish workers from driving on the foreshore in W1/W4 zones under proposed Bylaw No. 225.[1]

The committee minutes say the speaker provided excerpts from shellfish aquaculture guidance, licence conditions and the Fisheries Act in support of her position. Trustees responded that they had received advice that the committee could not regulate that aspect of land use, and suggested concerns be brought to the MP or MLA with jurisdiction.[1]

The minutes record the exchange at the meeting; they do not record a decision on the proposed exemption.[1]
