Denman Island Local Trust Committee trustees approve a standing resolution directing Bylaw Enforcement staff to undertake proactive enforcement of short-term vacation rentals on Denman Island. Trustee Critchley says staff will make efforts to work with unlawful operations to bring them into compliance. [1]
Trustee Busheikin supports the resolution, saying she has spoken with many constituents who raised concerns about short-term vacation rentals since the previous meeting. The motion carries. [1]
The committee also approves a Development Variance Permit for the Denman Community Land Trust Association to vary proof-of-water requirements for one of two lots proposed to be subdivided through a lot-line adjustment. Trustees say the adjustment represents a minor change involving an easement right-of-way and dedicated access, and that the Official Community Plan contains policies supporting affordable housing. [1]
The committee adopts a bylaw concerning driving on the foreshore and asks staff to prepare a media release about it. [1]
The committee schedules its next regular meeting for Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 9:30 am at the Denman Activity Centre. [1]
