The Denman Island Local Trust Committee heard opposing views on its Farm Plan Implementation project at its June 26 meeting, including objections to removing agriculture and horticulture as permitted uses on R1 and R2 properties.[1]
Doug Wright, speaking for the Growers and Producers of Denman and Hornby Islands, said the group did not support removing those uses, the minutes record.[1]
Another member of the public also opposed eliminating agriculture as a permitted use on small lots and opposed considering cannabis issues in the project, while supporting more community consultation on potential cannabis regulations.[1]
The minutes record these comments at the meeting; they do not record a decision on the proposed farm-plan policies.[1]
