About thirty-five people attended an August 2 special meeting on proposed changes to Denman’s Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw under the Farm Plan Implementation Project.[1]

The minutes record questions and concerns about the proposed definition of “feedlot,” including whether raising chickens for egg sales could fall under it, and whether adding the word “wholly” would make the definition clearer.[1]

Residents also questioned including cannabis production in the definition of “intensive agriculture” and suggested addressing cannabis separately. The meeting minutes say the project was in its early stages and that community input and recommendations were being sought.[1]

At the August 7 regular meeting, members of the public again urged the committee to remove cannabis from the definition of “Intensive Agriculture” and allow community engagement on cannabis regulations as a stand-alone project.[2]
