Residents raised questions and concerns about proposed changes to Denman Island’s Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw at a special Local Trust Committee meeting on Aug. 2, the minutes say.[1]
The meeting covered proposed changes to definitions, setbacks, agri-tourism and accommodation. Public comments included concerns about the proposed definition of “feedlot,” farm-status requirements and including cannabis production in the definition of “intensive agriculture.”[1]
The minutes say staff and trustees responded to questions, including that the proposed changes were at an early stage and community input was being sought.[1]
In the Grapevine, a separate report on the Aug. 7 regular meeting says members of the public urged the committee to remove cannabis from the “Intensive Agriculture” definition and consider cannabis regulations as a stand-alone project.[2]
