Residents raised concerns at the August 7 Local Trust Committee meeting about beach hazards they attributed to aquaculture, including rebar spikes, loose nets and other infrastructure. [1]
One resident suggested signs in dangerous areas and asked the committee to assist. [1]
Another raised concern that a shellfish tenure changing from a licence to a lease could bypass the committee’s zoning process and change a W1 Marine Conservation zone to a W3 Aquaculture Zone without local government notification. [1]
The minutes record these as public comments; they do not record a committee decision on either concern. [1]
