Residents raised questions and concerns about proposed changes to Denman Island’s Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw at a special Local Trust Committee meeting on August 2. [1]

The meeting minutes say the proposals included a new agriculture land designation, changes to definitions and setbacks, and rules for agri-tourism uses and accommodation. [1]

Some attendees questioned the proposed definition of “feedlot,” the treatment of cannabis production in “intensive agriculture,” and requirements tied to Farm Status. [1]

The minutes record staff and trustees responding to questions, including that the proposed changes were at an early stage and community input was being sought. [1]
