The Denman Island Local Trust Committee asked the Denman Housing Association to provide three reports before further consideration of its rezoning application for an eight-hectare affordable housing site: an engineered sewage-system assessment, a hydrogeological assessment and a biological inventory. [1]
The application proposes reducing density on a donor parcel and increasing density on a receiver parcel from one dwelling to a maximum of twenty-five, including twenty rent-controlled affordable homes, according to the meeting minutes. [1]
The staff report recommended further information on groundwater supply, sewage disposal and protection of environmentally sensitive areas; the committee’s motion specified the reports it required for the proposed site. [1]
Speaking for the Denman Housing Association, Simon Palmer said approvals were needed by June, 2019 under conditions of the association’s BC Housing grant, and asked the committee to limit the requested information to the project site. [1]
