The Wildlife Advisory Committee says it has received two reports of a cougar sighting on Denman and considers them credible enough to issue a notice. The committee says an adult cougar may be on the island.[1]

It advises residents to be cautious on trails and in wild areas, make enough noise to be heard, keep dogs close—preferably on leash—and keep children close. It also advises walking with others when possible and taking reasonable care around domestic livestock.[1]
