RCMP officers met Denman residents at the Activity Centre on April 25 to discuss plans for the summer, according to a report in this week’s newsletter. The report says officers posted to Hornby are expected to divide their time between the two islands starting on the May long weekend.[1]
The newsletter reported 14 calls involving offences where police filed a report to Crown Counsel in 2018/19, along with 38 calls for service. It said the figures showed only slight variation from the previous year and were regarded as average.[1]
The report also described residents’ concerns about speeding on East Road and Lacon, and ferry lineups on Hornby. It said a constable undertook to contact BC Ferries’ regional manager about a sign advising drivers that police are active on the island.[1]
