A Comox Valley Regional District staff recommendation proposes a temporary bulk-water filling station on Denman for licensed haulers during summer 2019, alongside a review of other options. The recommendation appears in a report submitted to the Grapevine by Laura Thomson.[1]
The report says the Graham Lake Improvement District stopped supplying water to haulers in late 2018 because of liability concerns, and notified the regional district in early January 2019.[1]
It says Denman haulers have limited alternatives and that residents relying on bulk deliveries may face serious circumstances this summer if other sources are not secured.[1]
Staff say the Denman Island Water Local Service Area’s water licence and establishment bylaw do not preclude bulk-water sales. The report recommends a temporary service while legal questions and other possible arrangements are examined, with a report back to the Electoral Areas Services Committee in late 2019.[1]
