The Denman Island Waste Management Committee says it has struggled to provide residents with accurate and timely information about the missed September 25 garbage collection.[1]
In a notice, committee member Bob French wrote that the committee had been told the missed pickup resulted from staff being off work, leaving three trucks unable to operate their routes.[1]
French wrote that Suncoast, the service provider for most of the previous two decades, was sold to Waste Management Inc. in the spring. He said the committee’s contact with the company was through a call centre and that it had asked to speak with an account manager but was still waiting.[1]
The committee apologized for the inconvenience and said it hoped the episode would not be repeated. The newsletter contains the committee’s account but no response from Waste Management Inc.[1]

We have been told that the cause of the missed Sept. 25th collection was the result of personnel being off work and thus preventing 3 trucks from operating their routes.
