The Denman Farmers Market had 45 island vendors listed this year, up from 12 four years ago, according to a report presented at the Growers & Producers Alliance annual general meeting on November 21.[1]
The report said the market averaged 27 vendors on Saturdays and estimated it brought about $80,000 to the island economy.[1]
A new Food for Families coupon program began this season with 41 participants, who received coupons worth $21 per week for eligible food purchases, the report said.[1] It said the program brought $6,282 of new money into the market.[1]
The report also said the market coordinator was finishing her last season and that organizers would look for a new coordinator early next year.[1]
