Comox Valley Schools says it has received $992,520 from the provincial Childcare BC New Spaces Fund to build a dedicated childcare facility at Denman Island Community School.[1]
The facility is planned to create 20 licensed spaces for children aged 12 months to five years, the newsletter reported.[1]
The newsletter said the island’s only official childcare centre was Blackberry Lane Children’s Centre, which operates out of the Community Hall, and described a shortage of licensed childcare.[1]
Building designs for the facility were already underway, according to the report.[1]
