A shorter safety announcement for the Baynes Sound Connector is proposed, and the changes are included in the budget for April 2020, Denman resident Jeanie Rogers wrote in a newsletter article.[1]

Rogers wrote that a petition signed by more than 100 people asked the Ferry Board to reduce the announcement’s volume, improve its delivery system and shorten its message. She said the volume was turned down, some speakers were removed and others redirected, but the message remained unchanged.[1]

Rogers wrote that she received an email from Victoria with a newly proposed announcement that was one-third shorter and a request for further edits. She said she responded with additional cuts and that the changes were expected to be in place shortly after the budget period.[1]

Apparently these changes are in the budget for April 2020 and should be in place shortly after that.
