Residents expressed opposing views about a proposed R4 zone at the Jan. 21 Denman Island Local Trust Committee meeting. [1]
Some public comments opposed creating the zone, saying a proposed three-storey maximum height could encourage development and gentrification, conflict with Denman Island’s character, increase pressure on firefighters and slow the seniors affordable-housing application. [1]
Other comments on the seniors project supported site-specific zoning and objected to including the project in the proposed R4 zone. [1]
The minutes record the comments but do not record a committee decision on the proposed zone at that meeting. [1]
