Residents voiced support for and objections to Denman Green during town hall at the Jan. 21 Denman Island Local Trust Committee meeting, according to the adopted minutes. [1]
Supporters said the project was needed and urged the committee not to delay it by adding requirements; others objected to the location and raised concerns about water supply, affordability of infrastructure and fire risk. [1]
The minutes say one speaker objected that the project had no well and would rely on trucked water as a backup to rain catchment. Another said the community had not had adequate consultation and should not have to wait until late in the process to provide input. [1]
The committee referred the Denman Housing Association application to its Advisory Planning Commission for input, the minutes record. [1]
In a separate update in the Jan. 30 Grapevine, Denman Housing Association writer Simon Palmer said four bylaws had received first reading and described the project’s proposed housing and water plans. [2]
