Back issue. The Denman Firestarter did not exist on 2020-04-02. This edition was compiled on 2026-10-01 from the public record as it stood on 2020-04-02, and contains nothing dated after that day — no outcomes, no hindsight. Denman’s General Store says customers can no longer bring their own bags under provincial rules and that the store will provide bags at no charge. It asks customers to keep two metres apart and step back from the counter while staff process purchases.[1]

The Post Office says it is opening at 9:30 a.m. on weekdays instead of 9 a.m., limiting the number of people waiting for service to two, and asking customers to wait on the porch until safe distancing can be maintained.[1]

The Denman Island Community Education Society says it is operating the Food Bank, computer access, online community programs and Seed Library. The Food Bank is open Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. at the portable beside the Community School, with distancing and entry precautions in place.[1]

The society also says the CAP-site is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 3 to 7 p.m., with access limited to two people at a time. Its notice lists online programs including virtual bedtime stories beginning April 3.[1]
