A letter signed by Jane Lighthall said the Denman Community Land Trust Association was about $6,500 short of its $100,000 fundraising target to acquire a two-acre downtown property.[1]
Lighthall wrote that the association had raised money through pledges, donations and events, and asked readers to contribute. She said the association planned eight small-scale affordable rental homes for seniors at the site.[1]
The letter invited readers to attend the association’s annual general meeting, scheduled for Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Market Day field.[1]
The July 7 Local Trust Committee minutes record that work was proceeding on a housing agreement for the association’s application and that staff were preparing options on referral responses and zone regulations. They also record the applicant’s request for clarification of requirements before deciding whether the project remained viable.[2]
