The Denman Island Local Trust Committee held an online community information meeting on August 6 about the Denman Housing Association’s proposed Denman Green development, with approximately forty members of the public attending.[1]
The proposal seeks to allow 20 affordable rental homes on an eight-hectare portion of a receiving parcel, with rainwater collection proposed as the primary water source and a preliminary estimate of 69 litres per person per day.[1]
The planner said the applicant had been asked for an updated sewage-disposal and grey-water-management report, and that consultations on fire protection were under way. The minutes say more information is needed before a public hearing can be scheduled.[1]
In response to questions, the meeting was told that the committee had not requested a hydrological report for the remainder parcel; proof of water would be necessary if an application to subdivide that parcel is made in the future.[1]
