The Denman Housing Association asked the Denman Island Local Trust Committee on Nov. 3 to expedite its Denman Green rezoning application and schedule community consultation before the committee’s next meeting. The request followed an update on water requirements and financing deadlines.[1]
Simon Palmer told the committee that meetings had been held with Island Health staff, written support had been received for the proposed water source, and the association was working to resolve Island Health’s requirements for water sufficiency.[1]
Trustees said they were willing to hold a special meeting if appropriate after receiving Island Health’s water-source approval for review. The minutes do not record that approval as having been submitted.[1]
The application concerns proposed affordable rental housing. At an August community information meeting, the proposal included 20 affordable rental homes on a portion of land proposed for rezoning; the minutes said more information was needed before a public hearing could be scheduled.[2]
