The Denman Housing Association says its agreement to acquire land off Denman Road for 20 affordable housing units expired on December 31, and the landowner declined to extend it. The association says it has withdrawn its rezoning application to Islands Trust.^[1]

The association says it still plans to build affordable housing and is looking at other land options. It says access to groundwater to supplement rainwater harvesting will be key.^[1]

At a January 19 Local Trust Committee meeting, a member of the public asked trustees what they would do to protect renters from evictions connected to bylaw enforcement. A trustee said he did not know the details of the evictions described, noted that the committee had taken actions to support affordable housing, and said he supported following bylaws in general.^[2]
