A representative of the Association for Denman Island Marine Stewards told the Denman Island Local Trust Committee on January 19 that Transport Canada had responded to complaints about an aquaculture lease extending beyond its area into W1 conservation waters. [1]

The representative said Transport Canada had advised that rafts floating in marine channels would be removed if compliance was not achieved. [1]

She also objected to a proposal from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations to allow expansion of W3 marine industry zoning into a W1 Marine Conservation Zone through an application by the tenure holder, and urged the committee to oppose further expansion if the matter came before it.
