A member of the public told the Denman Island Local Trust Committee on January 19 that occupants of non-compliant housing were being evicted as a result of bylaw enforcement, including the speaker and her daughter, according to the meeting minutes.[1]
The speaker said she had tried to assist the committee in creating bylaws to improve the situation and asked what local trustees would do to protect renters from eviction.[1]
A trustee said he was not familiar with the specific details of the evictions described. He also said the committee had taken actions to support affordable housing and that he supported following bylaws in general.[1]
