The Denman Island Community Education Society says it has received an $87,800 Capital Project Gaming Grant for a covered recreation space on the concrete pad beside the Community Hall.[1]

The society says the space is intended for recreational sports and could also accommodate concerts, winter markets and free play; it is to be well ventilated and available to book through DICES for regular practices.[1]

The project is planned in stages, beginning with the basic structure, with electricity, lighting and resurfacing of the concrete pad among possible later additions as resources allow.[1]

The society says its goal is to complete the initial stages by fall 2021 and names DIRCS, the DI Sports Field Committee, the Denman Island Health Centre Society, Denman WORKS! and the CVRD among those that have pledged money.[1]
