A housing petition notice and the Denman Local Trust Committee’s January minutes present different positions on land-use enforcement and housing.[1][2]
The petition asks for a moratorium on enforcement that could result in eviction, pending reviews of the Official Community Plan and housing regulations.[1]
At the January 19 meeting, a member of the public objected to evictions of people in non-compliant housing and asked what trustees would do to protect renters. A trustee said he did not know the specific details described, noted that the committee had taken actions to support affordable housing, and said he supported following bylaws in general.[2]
The petition notice says its signatures are to be presented to the committee on March 16, 2021.[1]
