A public hearing on proposed bylaws for the Denman Community Land Trust Association’s Pepper Lane seniors affordable housing project is scheduled for March 15, according to the Islands Grapevine’s events listing.[1]

At a March 2 electronic community information meeting, the Local Trust Committee presented proposed bylaws covering changes to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, and a housing agreement.[2]

The proposal seeks to divide a 1.62-hectare property near the village into two lots, with one lot for eight units of seniors affordable housing and the other retaining its existing single-dwelling residential use.[2]

The meeting minutes say the proposed housing agreement sets out requirements intended to keep the development affordable in perpetuity. The applicant said funding was in early stages and that the association would investigate the cost of considering net-zero buildings.[2]
