The Denman Island Community Hall board says it was turned down for all three grants it applied for to help pay for an HVAC system and is seeking community help to identify and complete future grant applications.[1]

In a Grapevine notice, the board said an HVAC system could heat the building at lower cost and with less noise, while providing cooling and fresh-air circulation.[1]

The notice also says the preschool is expected to move to a new building on the school grounds soon, leaving its long-used hall space vacant later in the spring. The board invited suggestions for future uses, including a food hub, maker’s space, tool library or music room.[1]

Finally, recently the hall applied for 3 grants to help support the cost of installing an HVAC system. Sadly, we were turned down on all 3.
