A project to build a covered recreation space on the concrete pad beside Denman Island Community Hall has secured partial funding and is applying for additional funding, according to a report by DICES Community Info in this week’s Grapevine.[1]
The report says the open-sided space is intended for activities out of the rain and for scheduled activities and free play, including sports, children’s programs, cultural events and markets.[1]
DICES initiated the project in June 2020 after public buildings on Denman closed amid COVID-19 restrictions, and leased the pad from DIRCS, the report says.[1]
The project committee says it will share more information about the design as the project progresses.[1]
