The Denman Island Local Trust Committee requests a draft business case for reviewing the island’s Land Use Bylaw and Official Community Plan, focusing on housing and increasing options for affordable and attainable housing. [1] The business case is to include the use of a consultant for all or part of the work. [1]
The committee also requests a discussion paper listing and analyzing options available to facilitate more affordable housing, including strategies that have proved successful in the Trust area and elsewhere. [1] Staff will attempt to provide the reports for the next Local Trust Committee business meeting. [1]
The committee’s discussion included a preference for a targeted review limited to housing, considering the pressing need, processing time and new policies in the Trust Policy Statement that might affect regulations. [1] A business case detailing the scope of staff or consultant work and estimated cost might be presented to the Financial Planning Committee by September and before Trust Council considers the budget.
