Islands Trust Council is inviting the public to an electronic special meeting on July 7 and 8 to consider first reading of a draft of its new Policy Statement. The July 7 town hall is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.; members of the public may speak for up to two minutes, subject to possible limits on speakers and speaking time.[1]

The council is scheduled to consider first reading on July 8. The newsletter’s notice says the draft addresses reconciliation, the climate emergency and affordable housing challenges, and that first reading would signal the council’s intention to advance the draft for public and agency comment and further First Nations engagement.[1]

The notice says at least three months will be available for feedback by email or letter, with a survey open for several weeks. It also says more than 100 provincial and federal agencies, organizations, First Nations and other governments will be invited to review the proposal following first reading.[1]
