The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved a variance permit for an addition to a house at 5621 Lacon Road, allowing it to sit 13.09 metres from the natural boundary of the sea rather than the required 15.0 metres. [1]
The committee’s July 6 minutes say the proposed addition was amended to 8’x24’. Trustees discussed an existing concrete-block breakwater wall and asked staff to provide the applicant with information about hard armouring and softer shoreline designs. [1]
The committee also approved a variance for Pandesign Inc. at 1151 Kirk Road. The application sought to vary the minimum lot size for the residential portion of a split-zoned property to permit a subdivision as an initial step toward a proposed multi-unit affordable-housing project. [1]
