The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved a development variance permit for the Pandesign Inc. property on Kirk Road, where the application is part of the first step toward a proposed multi-unit affordable housing project. The property is split between commercial and residential zoning, and the variance concerns the minimum lot size for the residential portion. [1]
The committee also approved a variance permit for the Denman Community Land Trust Association’s housing application, allowing amendments to a proposed housing agreement and draft restrictive covenant to be considered. Trustees suggested consulting the applicant about changes to the tenant-selection procedure to improve Indigenous inclusiveness. [1]
The minutes record that the Pandesign application’s companion rezoning application had been referred to K’ómoks First Nation, with no correspondence or response received to that point. [1]
