The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved two development variance permits at its July 6 meeting, according to adopted minutes.[1]
The committee approved a permit for an 8-by-24-foot kitchen addition at 5621 Lacon Road, within 13.09 metres of the sea’s natural boundary rather than the required 15 metres. The minutes say the committee had previously granted a setback variance for the property in 2003.[1]
The committee also approved a variance for Pandesign Inc. at 1151 Kirk Road to reduce the minimum lot size for the residential portion of a split-zoned property, permitting a subdivision as an initial step toward a proposed multi-unit affordable-housing project.[1]
The minutes say the variance would not increase density and that the residential lot would remain residential.[1]
