Denman Green housing applications advance at Trust meeting

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved two variance permits and considered changes to a proposed housing agreement.

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved a development variance permit for Pandesign Inc. at its July 6 meeting, concerning a proposed subdivision connected to an affordable housing project at 1151 Kirk Road. The minutes say the variance would not increase density and that the property owners next door were notified.^[1]

The committee also approved a variance permit for a kitchen addition at 5621 Lacon Road. The minutes describe the addition as 8’x24’ and say it would be 13.09 metres from the natural boundary of the sea, rather than the required 15.0 metres.^[1]

The committee considered requested amendments to a proposed housing agreement and restrictive covenant for the Denman Community Land Trust Association’s rezoning application. Trustees suggested consulting the applicant about changes to the tenant-selection procedure to improve Indigenous inclusiveness.^[1]

The minutes record the committee’s decisions and discussion; they do not say that the proposed housing project has been built.^[1]
