The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved a development variance permit for a split-zoned property at 1151 Kirk Road, an early step toward a proposed multi-unit affordable housing project, according to its July minutes.[1]
The minutes say most of the property is zoned Commercial and the remainder Residential; the variance permits a subdivision without increasing density, and the lot is to remain residential.[1]
The committee also considered requested amendments to a proposed housing agreement and restrictive covenant for the Denman Community Land Trust Association’s rezoning application. Trustees suggested consultation with the applicant on tenant-selection provisions and Indigenous inclusiveness.[1]
The July minutes record the committee’s decisions and discussion; they do not establish that either housing project has been built.[1]
