The Islands Trust Regional Planning Committee asked staff to draft amendments to a policy on delivering local planning services, according to minutes of its August 25 meeting.[1]

The requested changes include a project-definition phase and recommended processes for major, minor and extraordinary reviews of official community plans and land use bylaws.[1]

The minutes define a major review as taking about 6-18 months and a minor review as taking six months or less; extraordinary reviews would require more time and resources than major reviews.[1]

The committee also requested a recommended format for new plans and bylaws, with local customization permitted, and criteria for recommending which reviews receive priority.[1]
