Five Denman writers each won $500 in a recent writing competition organized by the Denman Island Readers and Writers Festival committee. The competition received 16 submissions on the loose theme of Denman Island, according to a report in this week’s Grapevine. [1]
The report says the winning entries ranged from short fiction to poetry to memoir. [1]
The report says the winning entries are to be published later this year in Denman’s monthly, the Flagstone. It says the competition received funding from the BC Arts Council and that whether to repeat it is up for discussion. [1]
