Denman Islanders are being asked to donate to the Christmas hamper program, which DICES says receives requests for 30-40 hampers each year. [1]
The hampers include groceries, fresh produce and gifts, with turkey, ham or vegan options. DICES says donations help support food security for local families and individuals. [1]
Gifts can be dropped off at Denman Hardware; food donations are accepted at the Community School Portable on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. Cash and cheque donations can be left at the portable or the General Store, and e-transfers are also accepted. [1]
DICES says volunteers will wrap presents and pack food at the Community Hall on the morning of December 23, and it is seeking drivers to deliver hampers. Requests for hampers are due by December 12. [1]
