The Denman Island Local Trust Committee held a community information meeting on Jan. 13 about the Denman Housing Association’s proposed Denman Green project and related bylaws. About thirty-one members of the public attended electronically.[1]
The proposal includes up to 20 affordable housing units at 1151 Northwest Road, with 19 densities transferred from the Denman Island Density Bank. The meeting minutes describe the project and bylaw changes as proposals, not approvals.[1]
The architects presented preliminary design possibilities, including one- or two-storey buildings, 30 parking stalls, a community room and a photovoltaic solar array. The minutes also say an environmental assessment was awaited to determine a setback for a waterlogged area on the site.[1]
The meeting included questions and answers with the planner, applicant and architects. The minutes say the water plan had been submitted to Island Health for review, with approval of the system design identified as a next step.[1]
