Denman Island Fire Rescue has qualified for Superior Tanker Shuttle Service accreditation, Fire Chief Don Luckett wrote in a notice published in the January 20 Grapevine.[1]
The notice says the accreditation applies within 8 km in road travel distance of the fire hall and within 5 km of a recognized water supply point. It says insurers are not required to accept the equivalency, but the Fire Underwriters Survey recommends they do so.[1]
Luckett wrote that the accreditation could reduce fire insurance rates for properties in the specified areas and thanked fire-rescue members for their work on water storage and delivery.[1]
