The Comox Valley Regional District voted on March 7 to put $10,000 toward developing an affordable housing service for Denman and Hornby, Area Director Daniel Arbour told the Grapevine. [1]
The money is to hire a consultant to research possible models and speak with stakeholders, the report said. If a workable service is designed, it could go to a referendum on tax funding. [1]
Arbour said the service could collect a small amount from residents of the two islands to support affordable and secure housing. He also said the existing projects on Denman and Hornby would not meet the housing need identified in a 2018 assessment. [1]
